Course content
1) Basic horse care and principles of safe horse handling. - approach to a horse, usage of a stable halter, safe handling of a stabled horse, leading a horse, handling of the horse when leaving the stable and returning 2) Care and cleaning of the horse. - Procedure for cleaning the horse before and after work, zoo-hygienic conditions for keeping horses 3) Saddling and bridling of the horse. - description and structure of the bridle and saddle (types, structure, care of gear, other riding aids and equipment of horses, ways of use) 4) Rider equipment. - equipment for individual types of equestrian disciplines, safety 5) Mounting and dismounting a horse. - basic rider's aids, school saddle training 6) Arena rules and etiquette - safety, riding commands, dressage arena 7) Principles of leading a horse. - basic horse gaits, sitting aids,using the heels and hands 8) Preventive health care. - assessment of health status, trias, vaccination, deworming

Learning outcomes

The graduate of this subject is expected to achieve practical skills to unassisted prepare a horse for riding and independently correctly lead the horse in walk to the stable after riding. The aquired theoretical and practical knowledge are the appropriate basis in preparing for the framework of Clinic of Equine Diseases.
