Learning outcomes
Objective of food toxicology course is to acquaint students with knowledge of possible effects of xenobiotic substances contained in food on human body. Contents of the subject are problems of interactions between nutritive and xenobiotic substances, problems of unwanted effects due to deficit of certain substances and an assessment of protective factors in food. Within the scope of this subject, the students are aquainted with mechanisms of xenobiotic action in body, with highly significant forms of metabolic activation and inactivation of the substances, including influence of enzymatic reactions involved in those processes.
